Behind our logo …
Lorenzo Lizarralde, owner of Blue Skies Brewery / Blue Skies Brewery-Auburn Hills, is a commercial pilot (hence the name of the brewery) and is one of the partners on Layover, along with his wife, Amanda, and Cort and Shannon Casey.
When coming up with the concept for the pop-up coffee bar inside Blue Skies Auburn, all of the partners wanted something that would dovetail with Blue Skies' aviation theme while still being fitting enough to stand alone, which led to the Layover name.
While tossing around logo ideas, Lorenzo referenced a 1927 photo of Charles Lindbergh flying past the Eiffel Tower in the Spirit of St. Louis, which became the inspiration for our logo. To us, the plane mirrored the ambience of Blue Skies, while the iconic French landmark immediately called to mind images of folks leisurely sipping drinks at tiny, cozy cafés.
Our graphic designer, Lani Balansag, merged the most notable components of the famous photo with our desire for a clean, Art Deco-inspired logo.
